After placing Dangerous Tides (DT) on an undefined hiatus in Feb of 2006, Kelly Zollo turned her creative prowess to role playing and video editing, a talent that was foreign to her at the time. “I began editing together church’s sermons [when] a friend of mine sent me a role playing invite over the internet. I had never done it before, but I found the experience of writing with 5-8 other people a good venue,” explains Zollo.
Offline, Zollo is pulling double duty between working at the veterinary clinic, and attending graduate school to finish up her MBA in Public Health Care. So far, she ascertains that there haven’t been any major horror stories at the clinic. On the contrary, her interactions with her colleagues and their clients have been nothing short of entertaining.
“The hospital owner and lead doctor [are] awesome for the most part. Our personal vet rocks and the others are semi crazy. One is a holistic vet with a ton of high-end clients (endless fun) and the other 2 are dry humor.”
Of course, the clinic isn’t all fun and games and you get to see some interesting things. “I [was able to witness] a c-section on a chinchilla, a hip replacement on a duck and a few other strange surgeries,” smiles Zollo.
As for the future of Dangerous Tides (DT), despite a brief resurgence earlier this year, Zollo has decided to shelve the series indefinitely.
“I don’t have the time or desire to finish it. I tried getting a co-writer, and for a little while, [the joint collaboration] worked… until I realized my heart just wasn’t in it anymore,” shares the web producer. “I miss involving myself in the mystery, and the thrill of the mafia down in Cape Keintrich.”
Although this marks the end of series that she and her 2 friends originally scripted in High School, Zollo walks away from the web project with no regrets. “There is really nothing that I would change from the experience,” she adds.
However, there does appear to be a new series on the horizon for Zollo. “Although I swore not to get involved in the web series world for a while, I guess you could say that fate had other plans. While RPG’ing, two of my friends and I began working on a new project that we hope to introduce later this year or early next year.”
The working title for the series is Southern Desire.
