Season 2 has officially started in the season opener we pick up 8 weeks after the finale in Season 1.

In this episode:

Liz deals with rehab.
Kate decides to tell the truth.
Paige deals the the fallout of her confession.
And more...

The theme song for the season opener is "Heartbreak Warfare" by John Mayer. Here is the deal people I don't personally care for the guy, but this song really worked for all the relationship issues that go on in this episode. You can click below to watch the song, as well as clicking inside the episode to watch it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht3Kuggitzs

I was supposed to get a few more videos done but unfortunately life got in the way. There is a new feature on the site where I will focus on a couple once a month, it comes with a downloadable wallpaper of said couple if you want it. Info is on the main page of the site.

As always, enjoy!

Kelly! I was so excited to see a new episode up and now that I have the time on my hands to catch up on my favorite serials, I am glad to once again leave reviews for each episode. The site is simply striking upon first glance- you’ve done such a wonderful job with the design and color scheme. Furthermore, when one takes the time to delve further they truly find a gem in this series. It’s wonderful to have you back and congrats on the launch of the second season!

Scene 1-

I loved the opening of this scene! By detailing to the exact minute, it really put things into perspective. I was also hoping that it would be Austin, but it was a nice surprise to see Peter instead. It was nice to see Liz release some needed tears as she cried onto her brother’s shoulder. This scene was very personal for me, because I have been in Peter’s spot more than a few times. I myself have had family and loved ones really suffer from drugs and alcohol and while you want so dearly to help, you must realize that the only person that can help your loved one is them. Indeed, sometimes they really have to hit rock bottom, as hard as it is to watch, for them to truly realize that change is pivotal for them to continue on.

Scene 2-

You did a wonderful job at providing a little recap of the recent events as the scene opened. I still can’t believe everything that transpired, Kelly. Brilliant twist to this superb mystery and I’m really looking forward to seeing where you take this. My first inclination would have been to slam the door in his face as well, but she obviously wanted answers and I like the fact she took the higher road and actually gave him the time of day. Furthermore, I think she has every right to not ask him to publish the book….it’s the least he could do.

Scene 3-

WOW. So Jessica is going to use a false pregnancy revelation to try and keep him? Good luck to that, girl! We’ve seen this play out in too many soaps and it always blows up in the woman’s face. It will be interesting how you play this out, Kelly. I know you’ll do a great job with this storyline and it will be interesting what happens when the truth comes out.

Scene 4-

I would have to say the theme of this episode would be “unexpected visitors.” Nicely done- it’s always fun to leave your readers on the edge of their seats wanting more and knowing that they’re going to get something that differs from what they expect. BTW, I have to throw in here that I *love* the name ‘Cade’. I loved the last paragraph about how she didn’t expect him to act so coldly, but that she knows she brought everything upon herself. That pretty much sums it up….and he is right indeed- once a cheater, always a cheater it seems.

Scene 5-

I’m sorry, but even though we want to have some sympathy for Paige, I just can’t. Knowing what happened for all those years and still not coming clean? I think she deserved to rot in prison for awhile and realize what it feels like to be on the other side of the bars. She got herself into this mess by not coming clean, now she’s going to have to dig herself out by herself hopefully. I hope no one comes to her rescue (right away at least) so she has time to go over the consequences of her actions.

Scene 6-

Geez, this Ryan character really has a list of dirty laundry, doesn’t he? Nice detailed recap in the second paragraph- it tied everything together for me and made me realize all that he did. However, the true scum of West Lake has to be Jessica- God, she is one of those scheming characters I just *love* to hate. I’m looking forward to how this ‘mastermind’ handles things to come and if and when the truth comes out, how things might blow up in her face. J

All in all, a superbly written episode and an enjoyable ride through West Lake. The whole episode was captivating and kept my attention which is a bit of a challenge sometimes with my ADHD. At any rate, I can’t wait for the next installment. Keep up the great work, Kelly!

Scene One:
What a powerful scene. Poor Liz, she seems so heartbroken and lost. I hope she can piece herself back together. I would love to see that for her.

Scene Two:
Love the interaction between Vanessa and Brian. I hope they can both work out their sh*t and just move on, WITH each other.

Scene Three:
Love Jessica's cattyness by saying "I was perfectly clear the first time." Perfect comeback line.

Scene Four:
WOW. What a shocking revelation. Cade reacted exactly like how I thought he would. Throwing that picture into the fire was shocking to me, didn't see THAT one coming. Feel bad for him, though. He seems really broken up about it.

Scene Five:
Paige breaking down really hit me, I felt the emotion, but I feel like some of it was fake, and not real.

Scene Six:
LOVED that scene, intense and perfect. I love it. Knowing Jessica isn't pregnant really adds a twist to the whole story!

I really like my site to look clean and pretty. One of the things I constantly wonder is the site over shadows the story and the episodes within it, so thanks for the compliment about it being a gem. I like to think of West Lake and the people who live there as a gem, it is great to hear that from a reader.

Thanks guys! Liz's scenes have been really emotional for me to write this season, as drug abuse hits close to home in my family and I wanted to portray it as realistically as possible. So I think showing that Liz is changing is a good thing and her knowing exactly how long she has been clean was huge for me.

Thanks again Jay and Scott. I know that people are rooting for Jake/Vanessa, Scott has been dying for Brian/Vanessa to make it. I hope to add a bit more to the triangle this season but at least give readers some sort of justice on both ends. I do think Brian and Vanessa have a lot of storyline left to tell. I wanted to portray that Brian honestly never meant to hurt her, but on the other hand he needs to deal with respecting her wishes now that the truth is out as well.

Of course she is she's Jessica, she wouldn't go down that easily. Plus I love to torture Jake on a twisted level. I debated for a good few weeks on whether to include her catty line to Jake and I am pleased that the payoff worked in the scene.

I thought it would be out of character for Cade to simply just raise Austin's kid with Kate given everything that has happened. I also am enjoying Kate's journey this year of actually being honest for a change in her life. Cade goes on a very good journey this year that I am looking forward to playing out, so I am thrilled that this worked for you guys.

You have no idea how happy it made me to hear that both of you are having a hard time feeling sorry for Paige, because you aren't supposed to and I tried to show that as much as I could with her scenes with Austin. Paige has to deal with the consequences this year of her actions from that night and I am very excited with how things play out.

Ryan is a piece of work and a character I find myself enjoying to write because of how literally screwed up he is. I am glad that you picked up on all the clues about his involvement in certain aspects of the accident. As for Jessica, she is by far the most devious piece of work that I have ever created, but I love to write her. She has her reasons as to why she is doing what she is and why Ryan is helping her so stay tuned! I've always felt that her and Ryan matched because of their dysfunction and I am thrilled that their scenes come off as intense for you both as readers.

One of the things I am trying to do with season 2 is to cut down on the actual wordiness that normally is my writing style from season 1 and Dangerous Tides. So I am beyond thrilled that this worked for you!

Thanks again guys for the awesome feedback! Episode 16 will be out in 2 weeks.

Kelly, I just got around to checking out the Season 1 Recap and the new episode. Congrats on launching the new season! And the site really does look terrific. The blues and all the shading are very evocative and set the perfect tone for the story you're telling.

One thing I really appreciated, in reading about the first season, was how just about everything seemed to spin off from the main mystery. You gave that single story a lot of "tentacles" that reached out and affected most of your cast, which makes it a lot easier to become engaged in the various stories. I also enjoyed how, even though you reached a certain climax with the end of Season 1, there are still plenty of pieces to uncover about the night of the accident, and we're left with a ton of questions about what will happen next and where these characters will go from this point. It's very nicely structured storytelling.

(That said, I did find the recap sort of hard to follow. I kept having to click the character bios, read back a few paragraphs in the recap, etc. For example, it was a little weird that you mention Vanessa getting out of prison but don't mention what she was in prison for -- I had to piece that together myself, and it was a bit confusing because the recap jumps from person to person without a lot of transition.)

The episode itself worked well with the time jump since the finale. It was a handy way of reintroducing people and situations, and I actually found the episode itself easier to follow than the recap. In each scene, you kept things nicely focused on the interactions between the people in the scene, without cluttering things up too much. I found the "Don't publish the book."/"Do you love him?" impasse between Vanessa and Brian fairly engaging, and while you say above that you don't want us to have too much sympathy for Paige, I thought it was a wise choice to do a scene in jail from her perspective. It would be easy to have it come from someone else's POV and have us dislike them because that person does, but I actually found myself understanding how she let this mess spiral and how much despair she feels. I liked the reference to her wondering if this is how Vanessa spent all those years in prison, because it means she's cognizant of the pain her actions have caused. Clearly she made a big, terrible mistake and deserves to pay for it, but I didn't find her hateable or anything in this ep.

Anyway, congratulations again on launching this season, and best of luck!

Hey Kelly,

As I said before, HUGE congrats on the release of season 2. Compiling enough material to even make it through one season is tough, but the getting into the second means you're here to stay. It's awesome how far you've come!

Episode:
It was really good; all the storylines really picked up after around a 6 week break it seems. It was an easy transition back into the swing of things. The fact that you mentioned the six weeks more than once made it easy to remember that everyone had been fastforwarded that time frame.

Vanessa -- Oh, the poor thing really does seem to be struggling with everything that has happened. And with reason, to find out that she spent 4 years in jail, really for nothing, has to be a hard pill to swallow. Brian coming crawling back was great; he was determined to make her realize that he does love her, but everytime he asked her if she loves Jake, she couldn't answer. Perfection. Jake, meanwhile, continued to try to call her. I get that she needs space, but she can only shut them both out for so long. Now that Brian has had his time, it's time for Jake and Vanessa to have that moment.

Paige -- Are we supposed to feel sorry for her? I really don't. She lied and let an innocent woman go to jail for a crime she didn't committ. I love how she told Austin that Shane is there for her and believes her. She's made her bed, she has to lie in it. I do hope that Jessica's part in it comes out.

Cade/Kate/Liz/Austin -- Poor Liz, feeling like Austin is ignoring her. I would really love to see how you play this out with Austin. He's been put through the ringer with everything that has happened with Paige, Liz ... and when he finds out Kate is preggers. You could really do a great number on him. The scenes with Kate and Cade were amazingly well done. The scene was filled with hurt and confusion, and almost a sense of desperation. It was awesome.

Jessica -- What a bitch! I love her. Clearly she has a lot to hide. Faking a pregnancy ... I'm dying to see how this plays out.

Awesome episode Kelly. Looking forward to the next,

Thanks Dallas I debated for a good few weeks on if I was going to do the skip in time or not so I am thrilled that it worked for everyone.

Now that Brian has had his time, it's time for Jake and Vanessa to have that moment.

So I did a happy dance last night when I read your comments here. You have had issues with Brian since last season, but I was thrilled that you picked up on the hesitation that Vanessa is having with it all. Especially whether or not she still loves Jake or not. Jake on the other hand has a lot to digest too, and they will get their moment.

Quote
Paige -- Are we supposed to feel sorry for her? I really don't. She lied and let an innocent woman go to jail for a crime she didn't committ. I love how she told Austin that Shane is there for her and believes her. She's made her bed, she has to lie in it. I do hope that Jessica's part in it comes out.

I also adore that the reaction to Paige was what I wanted it to be she made her bed she can lie in it. I don't feel much sympathy for her as a writer. Either.

Quote
Cade/Kate/Liz/Austin -- Poor Liz, feeling like Austin is ignoring her. I would really love to see how you play this out with Austin. He's been put through the ringer with everything that has happened with Paige, Liz ... and when he finds out Kate is preggers. You could really do a great number on him. The scenes with Kate and Cade were amazingly well done. The scene was filled with hurt and confusion, and almost a sense of desperation. It was awesome.

All of these characters go on a great journey this year so I am thrilled that these scenes worked for you. I also loved writing the Kate/Cade scenes and I am thrilled the anger, desperation, hurt and confusion came across as it should have.

Quote
Jessica -- What a bitch! I love her. Clearly she has a lot to hide. Faking a pregnancy ... I'm dying to see how this plays out.

Yay of course she is she's Jessica. If I had to place my money probably the top bitch in WL hands down.

Thanks again for the feedback Dallas I appreciate it so much!

Scene One:
I feel bad for Liz. She's obviously reeling from her addiction and realizing everything she's done, and it's having an effect on her that's going to be hard to deny without the drugs. And for some reason her brother just doesn't seem to care in my eyes. He seems very cold towards his sister. Some a tad more compassion Peter.

Scene Two:
INTENSE!!!!!!!!!! You can tell Vanessa is still struggling to trust Brian and is, for me at least, falling back for Jake in some ways. She's struggling between two men who have both hurt her. So now she needs to choose which one she wants to forgive more and maybe be with, but she's not ready.

Scene Three:
Jessica, Jessica, Jessica. You're making a big mistake by doing this, but for some reason I love that you are! LOL. To know that you're NOT pregnant and Jake now thinks you are, you realize what you're doing could either WORK or NOT work. Queen Bitch right here ladies and gents!!

Scene Four:
For some reason, Kate I can get why she told Cade. She seems, to me, to feel bad about what she's done, and she doesn't want to screw it up anymore, but I somewhat feel like Kate's baby is gonna end up being Jessica's, I can see it. And Cade's emotions were great, I felt the anger and somewhat disappointment, yet expecting to hear all this from her.

Scene Five:
Sorry but I don't feel sympathy for Paige at all. Not a piece of me feels sympathy for this chick. I'm glad Austin seems to be plowing into her without care.

Scene Six:
Love to hate Jessica right now, cannot wait to see how ALL of this unravels. You've got me on my seat, at the egde. I can't wait to see what else happens with this whole story, because I know there are things we haven't seen yet, and won't for a long while!!!
