I think the majority of us have watched soaps at one point or another, so this week, I ask what do you consider your best soap opera theme?

Discuss.

A Three-Way Tie between The 80s Another World theme, the final Search for Tomorrow theme and the early-to-mid 90s Loving theme (by Jeffrey Osbourne)

For me a tie between the classical music on Y&R and the catchy tune from Passions. Passions may have been terribe soap but their theme song was catchy.

LMAO. SO true!

I would have to say mine would be All My Children's. I first started watching in the late 90s and I remember always having the opening theme stuck in my head.

Here are the ones that I remember the most.

YR: Nadia's theme is classic, and a staple with the soap. I remember a few years back they changed it for awhile, and it didn't suit the show at all. Thankfully the creative tam saw this, and back came nadia's theme.

GH: This is the intro music from the mid to late 90s. that sax that you hear in the intro was very catchy.

DAYS: The bells ringing at the beginning, and then (Im drawing a blank with the name... he played Tom until his death... somethng macDonald) comes on saying 'likes sands through the hourglass so are they days of our lives.'

Of all time? I love the classics that never seem to change. AMC's book closing; Days with the hourglass, Y&R with the same theme for years. Those are the staples of the show.

I would have to say my favorite soap theme (lyrical-wise) would be the Loving Theme from 1992-1995 (as song by Jeffrey Osborne).  The theme from Passions (Breathe by Jane French), and One Life to Live's Tour of Lllanview (1984-1991) come in closely afterward.

My favorite non-lyrical (purely instrumental) theme would have to be a toss up between All My Children's 1990-1994 Opening and As the World Turns 1993 (Four Seasons) opening.

It's interesting to see all the varying similarities and differences.   Anyone have a soap theme they couldn't stand?

I don't need time to think, it would have to be from the departed Guiding Light.  That one about "Hope, Destiny, Crap..." was just awful, they really should have ended with its predecessor.  The current AMC opening bothers me a little bit, too.

Okay mine would have to be in no particular order

Passion theme I hated the soap but man that song was catchy... My secret was I watched the first few minutes of it for the song then went to GH!!!

I LOVED Port Charles theme song! Good one! I miss Livvie and Caleb Sad

OLTL 80's one was really good I let a good chuckle out when Markko sang it for the musical.

We've all been focusing on 'daytime soaps', what about any faves from primetime soaps?

It was a really hard toss-up between the original Melrose Place and BH 90210, but I think MPs was more catchy-

Primetime for sure in order:

Hands down Roswell had a pretty awesome opening:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBc95YDB6io" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBc95YDB6io</a>

I was pissed when One Tree Hill took away the credits in Season 5:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeEmTzaE2dY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeEmTzaE2dY</a>

After those two I would rank in 90210 (old school) and like Jay the MP (old school) one.

^^ I love ALL GL openings up until 2007, with the holding of the hands. The last opening was nice.

In primetime, I have to agree with Kelly.  Roswell gets it hands down for me, even though I did not really consider it a soap.  90210 would be my second pick, and Knots Landing (circa '87/88 thru 91) would be my third.
