Hey Ty! Thanks for stopping in.
I think Evan just about summed it up in that first scene: "I'd rather you ask me to cut off a limb than do that." To him, the shrine to poor Francine really is an extension of himself. In many ways, he feels it is his only connection to her anymore. That said, I felt Marnie was well within her rights to ask him to take it down. The poor girl's had to endure a lot where he's concerned - the very least he can do is take some damn pictures off the wall and put them in an album. In his defense, though, I don't think Evan really realizes at this point what all of this has done to Marnie. Evan is very, very focused on Evan (and Francine) at this point, so I believe he's rather oblivious to how deeply it really troubles her. I believe - this is my cracked psychoanalysis here - that he does love Marnie very much...but he is so scarred by what happened with Francine that that love is so repressed and shoved aside that he can hardly reach it anymore. Thus, him not immediately saying it back when she told him she loved him. Though, looking at this from Marnie's point of view, that omission only made the situation even worse.
And I agree...Evan is rather removed from the rest of the canvas, but I blame that on the fact he is so reclusive. He doesn't have any real friends to speak of, so it's not surprising that his only scenes are with Marnie. I will work on branching him out a little more, though...it might do him some good.

Ah, yes, it very well could be Brett, just like it very well could have been any of those crazy people. There's a lot we don't yet know about the pastor, including some things he's worked very hard to forget...but the question remains: is murder one of them?
Like I said earlier, I really want to make it possible for anyone to have done this. I agree...the force and strength implies a male culprit, but one never really knows about a person that's gone over the edge. Before this is over with, I hope to make a pretty convincing case that any one of these crazy people to have done it. Hopefully, I will pull it off well.
I'm very glad you like the addition of Michael. As I've said, he is proving to be the complete antithesis of Shane...which, at least in this chapter, has proven to be a very good thing.
As for the final scene, thank you. I'm glad you liked it. I really wanted to show how much both Jeff and Julia still strongly desire each other, though they know quite well it could never be. As for Stanley and the kids...yes, that was quite a moment, and in the next few chapters, we'll realize just where Stan would get all of this from. Backo del Flasho, ahoy!

Thanks so much for your comments. Always appreciated.
